Supaflex (UK) Ltd is a company originally formed to engineer Expansion Bellow schemes for Consulting Engineers and Contractors in the UK. Dealing with Expansion Bellows went side by side with Fan Coil Unit Hoses and Flexible Pump Connectors, Microbubble air & Dirt Separators and Dosing Pots. Expansion Bellows and all the above are specialist pipeline equipment marketed under the Supaflex (UK) brand. With a diverse experience of the building services industry, over the years just dealing with Expansion Bellows etc. spread to a whole variety of M&E services equipment.

As agents for major manufacturers this included Chilled Beam Cooling systems and Fan Coil Units (FCU’s), Fan Coil Casing systems, Trench and Perimeter Heating and Radiant panel. Commercial Boilers, Calorifiers, Radiators and Heatpumps became another part of the business as agents. GRP sectional and one piece Water Tanks coupled with Booster Sets formed the portfolio package.

Chilled Beam Cooling, in its early stages, was a Scandinavian idea, in a passive form, simply large bore pipe suspended from the ceiling in public buildings. It developed throughout Europe into linear Active Chilled Beam Cooling. In some cases it can also be used to heat. The linear form is very inflexible for the moving and repositioning of office layouts. Chilled Beam Cooling, over the next few years will increase, the use of Fan Coil Units will decline to some degree. The Marstair Quartz system of Chilled Beam Cooling and Heating (also developed in a 4 pipe version) is an innovative system, first introduced at the CIBSE/ASHRAE Conference at Edinburgh in 2003. The Chilled Beam Cassette is also matched to the Chilled Water Cassette Fan Coil Unit with a “common to both” metallic fascia .The Marstair Quartz Aqua 4 System is another innovative idea, a chilled water equivalent to VRF but with many advantages.
